Store Settings

Store settings let you customize the look and feel of your online store, where families browse and purchase classes, lessons, and other offerings. A well-configured store creates a professional first impression and makes it easy for families to sign up.

Most store settings are configured under Settings > Store. A few presentation-level options (marketing banner, store description) live in the Store Admin view itself — both are covered here.

Product Category Colors

Conductly's online store uses color-coded categories to help families visually distinguish between different types of offerings. These colors appear as the background for category headers and navigation elements when families browse your store.

CategoryDefault ColorDescription
Private LessonsIndigo (#4F46E5)One-on-one lessons between an instructor and student
Group ClassesTeal (#0D9488)Classes with multiple students
ProgramsOrange (#EA580C)Multi-session programs or workshop series

To change a category color:

  1. Go to Settings > Store.
  2. Click the color swatch for the category you want to customize, or type a hex code directly into the text field.
  3. A preview button shows you how the color will look.
  4. Changes save automatically.
tip

Choose colors that match your school's branding. Consistent colors across your store, website, and printed materials create a cohesive, professional look.

Marketing Banner

The marketing banner is a text message displayed across the top of your store. Use it for promotions, announcements, or seasonal messages.

To set the marketing banner:

  1. Open your Store Admin view.
  2. Click the banner text area at the top of the page.
  3. Type your message — it saves automatically.

Examples of effective banner text:

  • "Current members get 10% off with code MEMBER10"
  • "Summer enrollment now open — register today!"
  • "New students: your first lesson is free"

Leave the banner text empty to hide it from your public store.

Store Description

The store description appears on your store's landing page, just below your school name and logo. Use it to introduce your school and welcome families.

To edit the description:

  1. Open your Store Admin view.
  2. Find the description area below your school name.
  3. Use the rich text editor to add and format your content.
  4. Changes save automatically.

The description supports rich text formatting including bold, italic, lists, and links — so you can make it as detailed or concise as you like.

Terms of Service

If your school requires families to agree to terms before purchasing, you can add a Terms of Service that is displayed during the checkout process.

To set up or edit your Terms of Service:

  1. Go to Settings > Store.
  2. Find the Terms of Service section.
  3. Write or paste your terms using the rich text editor. You can format text, add headings, and include links.
  4. Your changes save automatically.

When terms are configured:

  • An "I agree to school policies and procedures" checkbox appears in the shopping cart.
  • Families can click a link to view the full terms on a dedicated page.
  • The Proceed to Checkout button is disabled until the checkbox is checked.

Common items to include in your Terms of Service:

  • Cancellation and refund policy
  • Attendance expectations
  • Payment terms
  • Liability waivers
  • Photo/video release permissions
info

If you leave the Terms of Service empty, no terms will be shown during checkout and the agreement checkbox is hidden entirely. You can add them at any time.

Settings Summary

Terms of ServiceSettings > StoreYes
Tax PercentageSettings > StoreYes
Force Credit Card SaveSettings > StoreYes
  • Tax Percentage — A percentage (0–100) applied to taxable products at checkout. Applied to the subtotal for any product with its "Taxable" flag enabled.
  • Force Credit Card Save — When enabled, families must save their card on file during checkout. When disabled, they can choose not to. Useful for recurring enrollments where you need the card on file for future auto-charges.

Per-Product Settings

In addition to the global settings above, each product in your store has its own configurable toggles:

  • Taxable — When enabled, this product is subject to the store's Tax Percentage at checkout. Disable for tax-exempt items (for example, services or scholarships).
  • Fees Applicable — When enabled, any store-level fees (processing fees, etc.) apply to this product. Disable for products that should be charged at exactly their listed price.

Best Practices

  • Keep colors accessible. Choose colors with enough contrast that text is easy to read. Avoid very light colors for category backgrounds.
  • Write clear terms. Your Terms of Service should be easy to understand. Avoid overly legal language when possible and focus on setting clear expectations.
  • Promote your store. The store works best when families know about it. Add your store URL to your website, email signature, and social media profiles.
  • Review settings before each enrollment period. Before a new semester starts and families begin signing up, double-check that your store looks good and your terms are up to date.
