Recitals

Recital is a calendar event type built for performances -- a recital comes with a printed program that fills itself in as you add performers, and a public link families can open to see it. Recitals have no price and never appear in your catalog: nobody is billed for one, and no instructor pay rule keys off one.

:::info One recital per date There's no recurrence for recitals. If you're running two showtimes on the same day, schedule each one as its own recital. :::

Scheduling a Recital

Recitals are created the same way as any other event -- see Creating Events. Scheduling one is Owner/Admin only, the same tier as Class, Program, and Event; an instructor granted only the Schedule lessons permission doesn't see the Recital chip.

  1. Click the Schedule button and select Recital.
  2. Enter a name, date and time, and location.
  3. Use Add students to add each performer.
  4. Click Save.

The event's name becomes the printed program's starting title -- you can rename the program separately afterward without renaming the calendar event.

The Printed Program

Every performer you add to the recital gets a blank line on the program automatically. Remove a performer and their line goes too, unless a teacher has already typed a piece into it -- in that case Conductly leaves the line in place rather than lose what was typed; delete it by hand if it's no longer needed.

To open the program, click the recital on the calendar and choose Recital program from the popover.

Program Details

At the top of the program page:

  • Program title -- what's printed at the top of the page (defaults to the event's name)
  • Subtitle -- optional
  • Welcome note -- an optional short note printed above the running order

Changes here need a Save click -- unlike the running order below, nothing here saves until you click it.

Running Order

Each performer's line has:

FieldDescription
PieceThe title of the piece being performed
ComposerOptional
InstrumentOptional
TeacherWhich instructor to credit for this performance
MinutesAn optional estimated duration
PerformingWhich student(s) are on this line -- a duet is one line with two performers toggled on

Each field saves as soon as you leave it (no Save button per line). Use the up/down arrows next to a line to reorder it, or click Add a piece to add a line that isn't tied to a performer already on the roster -- an encore or a faculty performance, for example. The trash icon removes a line.

Sharing the Program

Three buttons on the program page:

  • Program PDF -- downloads a printable program. It's built fresh on every download, so a performer added the morning of the show is already on it.
  • QR image -- downloads a QR code image for printing on a poster or door sign. The code points to the public program page below, not the PDF.
  • View public program -- opens the program as a public web page. Anyone with the link can read it without logging in or having a Conductly account -- it's meant to be shared with families and audience members.

:::info No fee or ticketing Recitals don't charge admission. If your school charges for a recital, sell it as a store product or add it as an invoice line the way you would any other charge. :::
